Komen and The Conti Group Fight Breast Cancer Together
06, May, 2013
The Race for the Cure marked the 6th time Conti and the Komen Foundation teamed up to produce an amazing event to increase breast cancer awareness.
Overall 4,000 people participated in the race and $800,000 was raised. Over 275 volunteers came together to organize the race for the 225 teams participating. Team Conti had 50 walkers and runners on race day. Conti was honored with the Support for the Cure Award at this year’s Komen gala, “An Evening in Pink: Inspiring Journeys of Courage.”
For the past six year, Conti employees have volunteered significant time to assist with the planning and organization of the event. Conti’s in-kind donation included logistic managers, a donation of equipment (forklifts, traffic cones, barricades and pick-up trucks) and equipment operators. The team set up over 60 tents and hundreds of tables and chairs before the start of the race.
